A Relaxed Wander Through Whitby’s Old Town

There’s something special about spending time in the old town of Whitby—and my latest Whitby Wander was a perfect reminder of why I love doing these so much. This time, it was a private booking for a lovely group of friends. From the moment we met, it had that easy, relaxed feel. No pressure, no strict plan—just a wander through the east side, taking in the character, the textures, and those little hidden corners that make Whitby so unique. As always, the conversation flowed just as naturally as the walk itself. We chatted about photography, the weather (a very British essential!), and a bit about the way of the world. It’s those moments in between that really make these experiences special.

Photography, Made Simple

One of the things I love to include in my Whitby Wanders is a basic level of photography tuition along the way. Nothing complicated or overwhelming—just simple, helpful tips to help you see things differently and get more from your camera (or phone!). Whether it’s noticing the light, finding interesting angles, or capturing the details you might usually walk past, it’s all about building confidence and enjoying the process. There are no right or wrong ways here—just your own way of seeing the world.

More Than Just Photos

For me, these wanders are about more than photography. They’re about slowing down, switching off from the busy pace of life, and really taking in your surroundings. Each wander is shaped by the people on it, and this one had such a warm, friendly energy from start to finish. It’s always a privilege to be part of that.

Fancy Joining a Future Wander?

I’ll be announcing another public Whitby Wander very soon, so keep a look out if you’d like to come along and experience it for yourself. And if you’d prefer something a little more personal, private wanders are always available—perfect for friends, families, or even just a bit of time for yourself.

Just drop me a message, and we can plan something that works for you.
