A Dream 10 Years in the Making – Cinque Terre
There are some places that sit on your “one day” list for years… and for me, Manarola, Cinque Terre, Italy was one of them.
Five small villages perched along the Italian coastline, all connected by train or scenic walking routes — somewhere I’d imagined visiting with my friend for over a decade. So to finally make it there, alongside my fabulous friends, felt pretty special from the start. And it didn’t disappoint.
From the moment we arrived, it was everything you hope for and more — colourful buildings stacked into the cliffs, the sparkle of the sea, little streets full of life, and that relaxed Italian atmosphere that makes you slow down without even realising.
Each village had its own personality. Some quieter, some busier, all equally beautiful in their own way. And while of course we had our cameras with us (it would be rude not to!), this trip felt like the perfect balance.
There was photography, yes — capturing the light as it hit the buildings, the details in the streets, the views that quite honestly don’t need much help from a camera… but there was also so much more.
There were long chats over food, plenty of laughter, sunshine on our faces, and those in-between moments that often end up meaning the most.
It reminded me why I love photography in the first place. Not just for creating images, but for the experiences it brings, the people, and the memories you take home long after the camera is put away.
Trips like this fill your cup creatively without pressure — just space to enjoy, explore, and see things differently again.
Cinque Terre had been a dream for 10 years… and it was worth every second of the wait.
If you’ve got somewhere sitting on your list, this is your reminder — go for it.
